NSW Branch awards
NSW Pharmacist Medal – nominations now open
The NSW Pharmacist Medal has been established to recognise and honour the often unsung heroes of the NSW pharmacy profession.
To be awarded for the first time in 2012, the NSW Pharmacist Medal will be presented to a member who has demonstrated a consistently high standard of professional practice in support of the principles of pharmacy service to the community and has achieved excellence and innovation in practice development, services’ development, advocacy or education.
Eligibility for the award requires the Nominee:
(i) be a current or immediate past member (within 12 months) of PSA (NSW Branch) at the time of nomination; and
(ii) not received any major pharmacy related awards for the work presented in the nomination.
The NSW Pharmacist Medal will be awarded based the following criteria:
- Provision of work at the pharmacy frontline that goes beyond standard dispensing, counselling, over the counter or clinical activities, resulting to either a maintenance of well being, or improvement of health outcome of the general public.
- The impact of the nominee’s work in raising the public’s awareness and appreciation of the community role of the pharmacy profession.
The award of the NSW Pharmacist Medal is based on a significant achievement in an area of excellence within the year or a recent period.
Consideration would be by nomination (including self nomination). Selection would be against criteria assessed by a small panel including NSW BC members and independent external representatives.
Nominations for the 2012 NSW Pharmacist Medal are now being sought. Nominations close on Friday, 17 February 2012.
The inaugural winner will be announced at the 2012 NSW Pharmacy Dinner, to be held at Fairmont Resort, Leura on Saturday, 17 March 2012.
