On 1 November 2016 medicinal cannabis became a controlled drug in the Poisons Standard, making it possible for authorised prescribers to prescribe medicinal cannabis products under the provisions of a controlled drug (Schedule 8).

Whether or not medicinal cannabis products can be prescribed is reliant on each state or territory adopting the change. This change will have impacts on the daily practice of pharmacists who will need to stay abreast of the significant changes that are occurring in each state and territory.

The PSA medicinal cannabis resource hub will provide members with a suite of resources to support you through these changes, to provide assistance to your customers, and as a place to find education on the latest clinical evidence.
