About qualifications and credentials
Qualifications awarded by PSA are recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework . They have been developed to meet the needs of businesses and industry, equip individuals with broadly based knowledge and skills, and are consistent with best international practice.
Credentials are not part of the AQF, but may be issued by bodies of particular authority or with particular expertise and interest. The Australian Association of Consultant Pharmacists credentials (or accredits) pharmacists to undertake medication reviews and some disease state management services.
The process of credentialing or accrediting individuals is different from the process of accrediting continuing professional development or training course providers The latter is undertaken by the PSA and the Australian Skills Quality Authority respectively.
PSA develops training courses that will support pharmacists meet credentialing requirements.
