Preceptor support and resources
The PSA National Intern Training Program is dedicated to helping preceptors in the vital role they play during the intern year, and has developed the following resources:
- FREE preceptor training course (for preceptors of current interns only)
- General information for preceptors
- Resource access portal for 2012 NITP preceptors
- Forum for pre-2012 preceptors
Preceptors may obtain continuing professional development credits by undertaking certain areas of self development. The following table has some examples.

| NITP Online Preceptor Training Course | 4 Group 2 CPD credits | For PSA members: gain the CPD credits by completing the assessment online only, your PSA CPD record will automatically be updated.Non PSA members: need to download the two pdf documents from the preceptor forum and submit answers manually to the PSA. Non PSA member preceptors will need to self record their CPD credits. |
| Training of intern: This involves spending time preparing a topic or issue relevant to your individual practice to discuss with the intern. | 2 Group 2 CPD credits per hour spent preparing to train | You would need to document:
