Call for abstracts
Abstracts are sought for poster and oral presentations from researchers and practitioners within the field of pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical science.
The PAC Program Committee is particularly interested in receiving submissions from practitioners who wish to share vital information that could help improve the practice of pharmacy and help to solve the current situation in pharmacy “the pharmacy puzzle”, without necessarily having undertaken structured research activities.
Posters should be ‘A0’ in size (84 cm x 119 cm: presented in portrait orientation). The poster should include a background, aim, method, results, discussion and conclusions.
For practice posters, a less formal structure is acceptable e.g. background, reason how it fits into solving the pharmacy puzzle), description (what was done and how), reflection (how it worked out), and recommendations (for others wanting to do something similar).
Pictorial and graphical presentations are encouraged as they are more effective in delivering the messages and attract better audience attention.
The congress program will include periods of time devoted exclusively to viewing the posters. The presenting authors must attend their posters during the allocated time to answer questions.
Oral presentations will be scheduled for 15 minutes duration. This includes:
- Up to 10 minutes presentation
- Remaining time for questions.
Audio visual aids will be provided for PowerPoint for Windows. No other presentation medium shall be permitted without prior arrangement.
All abstracts must be a maximum of 250 words and be structured with the following headings:
Disclosure of Interest
Authors must disclose potential conflicts of interest, sources of funding and affiliations with sponsoring companies, if applicable.
The PAC Program Committee will review abstracts for suitability for presentation at the Congress, based on quality, originality, and relevance of subject matter.
Authors will be advised by email of selection outcome by Monday 11 August 2014. Accepted abstracts will be published in the Congress Program Handbook.
Please note that the Congress Organisers regret they cannot waive registration fees or pay travel expenses for presenters of accepted abstracts. All presenting authors must register and pay for their attendance at the Congress. However, all presenting authors will be able to register at the early bird rate if register within 2 weeks of being notified by the PAC Program Committee on the acceptance of their presentations.
A best contributed paper prize and best poster prize will be awarded by a judging panel. In addition, the National Asthma Council Australia is offering a $1,000 cash prize for the best paper or poster in the field of respiratory medicine.
(Please note that the Congress Organisers reserve the right to withhold awarding any prizes if the judging committee determines that no paper or poster is worthy of the prize).
