Product Description:

The CD-ROM contains all the kit resources (electronically) required to assist pharmacists to provide education on medicines and falls to residential care nurses, carers and the community, with the aim of promoting the quality use of medicines in falls prevention to improve the quality of life of residents and community members.  It enables pharmacists to deliver presentations that can easily be tailored using the additional slides incorporated at the end of each presentation. These education presentations will enable the nursing staff and other staff in RACFs to use practical strategies and interventions, including minimising risk to prevent falls in their RACF, and understand the benefits of ongoing medication management.  It will also enable them to have an increased awareness of issues implicated in falls, gained by using the case studies as examples.

Benefits to Pharmacists & Participants:

The Preventing Falls CD-ROM is recognised under PSA’s CPD&PI program.  Pharmacists who purchase and use it are entitled to six points per hour of presentation if presenting to an RACF (for the first presentation only if multiple presentation are to be held).  If you are presenting to a community group, you are entitled to four points.  In addition to this, the Royal College of Nursing Australia (RCNA) has also endorsed the presentations, so that nurses attending the presentations would receive two continuing nurse education points (CNE) as part of the RCNA’s Life Long Learning Program (3LP).  To claim the points, you simply return the completed evaluation forms to the PSA.
