Intern Pharmacist Positions Database (IPPD)

Graduates

Proprietors/Pharmacists-in-charge

Unlike some other states, until 2006 there was no centralised database in Victoria where interns positions in community pharmacy could be advertised. With the number of interns requiring positions in 2009 likely to hit 300, it is imperative that the intern recruitment is streamlined.

What is the Intern Pharmacist Position Database (IPPD)?

IPPD is a table of available intern positions in community pharmacy or industry accessible through links with the PSA website. Hospital positions are advertised through the SHPA website at http://www.shpa.org.au/.

What does the database include?

At this stage, the database includes only basic details including the pharmacy name, address and contact details, contact person, proposed commencement date and closing date for applications. Interns will then approach the pharmacy directly to obtain more details on the position.

What are my obligations?

The Co-ordinator must be advised as soon as possible when a position is filled.

Who will have access to the database?

The database will not be password protected so please provide contact details you are happy to be in this forum.

Advantages of the database

  • Potentially increase the number of applications for a position allowing greater choice for your particular business needs
  • Allow easy advertising of a position at a time that suits you
  • Allows access by students studying in regional areas, interstate or overseas
  • May reduce the number of cold call approaches for positions
  • Allow positions to be advertised all year round
  • Free

What do I need to do?

Positions in other states

Intern positions in other states may be advertised through a variety of sources including PSA State Branches and Raven's Pharmacy Services (http://www.ravenspharmacies.com.au/ or phone 1800 670 440).

Please note that this is not a recruitment service, but a means of informing interns of positions available. PSA is not endorsing the quality of pharmacies listed on the database or those applicants who choose to apply.
