Health Campaigns
Self Care's Health campaigns are designed to educate and raise pharmacy staff and public awareness of particular health conditions. Health campaigns provide member pharmacies with additional resources to coincide with national health activities. These resources can include training storyboards, health information, deskpads, posters, brochures and promotional displays. This material is most effectively used as a display within a pharmacy, highlighting the Fact Cards associated with the campaign and other Self Care resources.

Arthritis - April 2009

Arthritis in some form directly impacts on nearly 20% of the Australian population. By 2050 it is estimated there will be 7 million Australians with arthritis.
The Arthritis health campaign included the following resources:

Heartburn - September 2008

Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) is one of the most prevalent gastrointenstinal disorders. About 15-20% of adults experience symptoms typical of reflux at least once a week.

Herpes virus - Special Refresher Edition - August 2008

Herpes viruses are widespread. There are more than 100 members in the herpes family, eight of which have been shown to affect humans. The Herpes virus campaign focused on the identification, management and prevention of the commonly-occurring herpes viruses: herpes simplex virus (cold sores and genital herpes) and varicella zoster virus (chicken pox and shingles).

Contraception - a new option - July and September 2008

Self Care in collaboration with Bayer Schering Pharma has delivered a targeted health education project (Health campaign) on Contraception for pharmacists, pharmacy support staff and pharmacy consumers in the community pharmacy setting. The health campaign coincided with the release of a new combined hormonal oral contraceptive (COC) formulation.
The campaign package was delivered in two phases and included:
PHASE I
- inPHARMation monthly edition
- pharmacy training storyboard
- consumer deskpad
- Evaluation Form (for the Storyboard presenter to complete).
- John Bell Health column.
PHASE II
- consumer deskpad
- two posters
- set of 8 stickers.
