Essential Training

New online training format to meet the increased demands of the influenza season

Essential training with new online format

In response to the increased demand for pharmacist administered influenza vaccinations and mental health support, PSA is providing more training on essential courses.

PSA is also transitioning to online delivery so pharmacists and intern pharmacists can complete essential training in a blended format, while complying with social distancing and minimising workforce disruptions.

Learning for the First Aid and CPR courses is completed online with the theory assessment also being completed in the pre-course work. The assessment is a very short face to face component with the trainer where students demonstrate the skills required for the particular unit. The trainer may provide feedback and correction opportunities where there are minor issues however students are expected to read the requirements and understand how to perform the tasks when they attend the session.

Immunisation courses have different options to attend the practical and assessment session depending on your state or territory.

First Aid and CPR training are essential requirements for*:

  • New or current pharmacists immunisers and
  • Intern pharmacists in order to meet requirements for general registration

*Please check state and territory requirements
