Immunisation update for pharmacists 2018 (Non-member access)

The PSA have developed an online recorded lecture with assessments, providing an update on influenza, measles and pertussis, including incidence rates in 2017. Also provides an update on management of anaphylaxis and reporting of adverse events following immunisation.

This activity has been accredited for 1 hour of Group 1 CPD (or 1 CPD credit) suitable for inclusion in an individual pharmacist’s CPD plan, which can be converted to 1 hour of Group 2 CPD (or 2 CPD credits) upon successful completion of relevant assessment activities.

  • Learning objectives
    After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:
    • Demonstrate knowledge of the influenza disease and review of the past season.
    • Discuss why annual influenza vaccination is required in the context of the influenza season.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of pertussis, including incidence rates.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of measles, including incidence rates.
    • Describe knowledge of the correct adrenaline (epinephrine) doses for treating vaccine-related anaphylaxis on adults.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of the documentation and reporting requirements of adverse event following immunisation (AEFI).
