From the Editor
This issue of Pharmacy History Australia could be seen as a “Military Issue” with the leading article being the paper by Dr Kirsty Harris on dispensing by nurses during World War I at Gallipoli, in Egypt and on the battlefields of the Somme.
There is also the fascinating story about the war trophy presented to the Victorian College of Pharmacy
in grateful thanks for the 19 men associated with pharmacy in Victoria, who gave their lives for their country. The theme continues with story of a modern warrior pharmacist Bill Kelly and the contrast in Military service today compared to the days when the whole nation was at war.
The Chemist’s Cricket carnival has been well reported in the Pharmacy media, but we are having the last word with a photo of the victorious Vics in 1936, sent in by “young’ David Wells who is now 91 years of age. We did write up the story of the Wells dynasty and six generations of pharmacists
in Issue 18 November 2002 if you’re interested.
We have not had too many grizzles about the 16 page one colour issue last November and it is helping to stabilise our finances at last as the next issue will be 20 pages in time for PAC 2008 which will be held in Perth and history will be prominent, I promise you.
