Why celebrate?
While we thank our pharmacists every day, we mark Thank Your Pharmacist Day annually in March bringing together patients, community leaders and stakeholders from across the health sector to acknowledge the vital work of our pharmacists.
From supporting patients with medicine use to lifesaving interventions, pharmacists are stepping up to meet the growing demands of our healthcare system. Whether it’s delivering accessible care for acute illnesses, administering vaccinations, championing Quality Use of Medicines and medicine safety in aged care, or helping patients manage chronic conditions, pharmacists are an increasingly critical part of the health care team.
How to get involved
- Pharmacists: Engage with your community by hanging a poster in your pharmacy and encourage patients to share their stories of pharmacists stepping up on social media. PSA has developed an advocacy kit to help celebrate the impact of your profession, including social media tiles, letter templates and pharmacy posters.
- Patients and the public: Show your appreciation—visit your local pharmacy and say thanks to your pharmacists. If you can, share a message of thanks using #ThankYourPharmacistDay on social media.
- Federal politicians and candidates: Step inside a local pharmacy and see first-hand how pharmacists are stepping up to improve health outcomes in your electorate. PSA encourages you to reach out to pharmacists before attending the pharmacy to ensure you are visiting at a convenient time.
