Why is this activity important?

As pharmacists we frequently encounter practice situations that leave us uncertain about our legal obligations and ethical responsibilities.

What is your role?

As the profession evolves and expands in scope, it’s crucial for pharmacists to have a solid understanding of their duties to ensure patient safety while effectively managing potential risks.

What’s in it for you?

Our guest speakers will address a variety of challenging issues that pharmacists commonly face, including complex topics where pharmacists may have limited knowledge, such as:

  • assessing whether an activity or service is within the scope of practice
  • dispensing regulations
  • off label use of S3 medications
  • mandatory reporting of health care professionals
  • mandatory registration obligations (CPD, professional indemnity insurance, recency of practice)

There will be a live Q&A session following the formal presentations, and we encourage attendees to bring their questions for our guest speakers’ insights.

  • Identify high-risk situations that may result in errors and regulatory actions within the pharmacy, along with strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Identify key factors to assess whether a new activity or pharmacy service falls within scope.
  • Recognize critical elements that necessitate mandatory notifications to AHPRA.
  • Recognise mandatory registration obligations
